At 9:16 a.m. local time in Mozambique on September 16, the ignition and commissioning ceremony for Huaxin’s 2,000-ton-per-day kiln line restoration project at the Matola Plant in Mozambique was successfully held. The commissioning marks the completion of the plant’s comprehensive upgrade in production capacity, equipment performance, and operational efficiency. It further strengthens Huaxin’s industrial presence in southeastern Africa and enhances the company’s core competitiveness and brand influence in the African market.

Wang Jiajun, Vice President of Huaxin Building Materials Group; Fernando Barreto, Country General Manager of Huaxin Mozambique; together with members of the project team, Matola Plant management, and frontline employees, attended the ceremony. More than 100 people gathered to witness this important milestone.

Wang Jiajun stated that the project represents an important achievement in Huaxin’s continued development in the Mozambique market and in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Africa. The project was delivered efficiently and to high quality standards, demonstrating Huaxin’s pragmatic and efficient execution capabilities as well as its strong sense of corporate responsibility. Huaxin will continue to strengthen its local presence, maintain strict standards for production safety and product quality, ensure the stable and efficient operation of the production line, and strive to develop the project into a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Mozambique.

Fernando Barreto stated that the plant team will remain committed to strengthening local operations, improving quality and efficiency, and fully utilizing the plant’s production capacity, thereby contributing to Mozambique’s development.

Huaxin officially took over Cimentos de Moçambique in December 2023. The company operates five cement plants in Mozambique. Among them, the Matola Plant is located in southern Mozambique, close to the capital city of Maputo and the Port of Maputo. Its strategic location enables the plant to effectively serve one of the country’s key cement consumption markets.

To meet the growing demand generated by regional infrastructure development, unlock the potential of existing production capacity, and modernize the production system, the Matola kiln line restoration and upgrade project officially commenced in March this year. Throughout the project, high standards of construction and quality were maintained. Leveraging Huaxin’s mature new dry-process cement technology and advanced operation and maintenance systems, the project included equipment optimization, process upgrades, and improvements to supporting plant facilities, with the objective of developing a localized, modern, green, and highly efficient overseas building materials production base.
