The Ministry of Technology and Science, Praise Chilanga Cement’s skills development in the Manufacturing Industry in Zambia.

Chilanga Cement Plc and the Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Technology and Science, have reinforced their commitment to enhancing skills development among the youth in Zambia.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to Chilanga Cement Plc on Tuesday afternoon, Minister of Technology and Science, Honourable Felix Mutati, said Chilanga Cement was one of the most critical industries in Zambia that has carried on the legacy of not just skill development but also producing quality cement.

He added that it was important for both the government and private sector to come together to enhance the skills of the youth to enable them to perform in industries such as Chilanga Cement.

The Minister, who was escorted by officials from TEVETA and World Skills Zambia, added that the burden of upgrading and lifting up skills is the responsibility of both the government and the private sector.

In response, Chilanga Cement Plc Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jianping Chai, thanked the Minister for his visit and humbling recognition of the company as a pioneer in cement production.

Mr. Chai echoed that Chilanga Cement under the Huaxin Group will always be the pride of the people of Zambia, regardless of the shareholding.

He reiterated that the company will continue to enhance skills development and capacity building among the Zambian youth so as to contribute to the advancement of the construction industry in Zambia.

Every year, Chilanga Cement rolls out a Graduate Internship Program that is aimed at providing hands-on industry experience to fresh graduates in various technical and administrative skills. From 2018 till date, the program has trained over a hundred and forty (140) graduates in fields such as engineering, production, business administration, supply chain, and commercial, to mention but a few.
