At 20:28 local time on April 12th, the 15MW biomass power generation unit of Huaxin Maweni Limestone Limited (MLL) in Tanzania was successfully connected to the grid for power generation at one time.
Located in Tanga District, northeast of Tanzania, MLL is the first factory of Huaxin in Africa. The power resources are relatively in shortage and the power supply is extremely unstable. In order to improve cement production stability, MLL used a waste heat recovery system (WHR) to maintain the operation of kiln 1, which not only achieved good economic benefits, but also gained mature power supply experiences.
Since the construction of kiln 2 started, additional WHR and bio-mass power generation unit was designed to suffice the power supply. Now, MLL is equipped with 2 WHR systems and 1 bio-mass power generation unit which also could connect to the power grid, signifying Huaxin has made breakthroughs of the technical barriers of multi-unit connected operation and ensured the stable power supply for MLL. Moreover, it has become the first successful case in the history of the world cement industry.
