Huaxin Launches Its First Self-Owned Cargo Ship to Africa, Ushering in a New Chapter in International Trade
June 04th 2025

At 14:28 on June 3, with the sounding of the ship’s horn, Huaxin’s first self-owned international cargo ship officially set sail from Huada Port in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, China, heading to Mozambique. This marks a significant milestone in Huaxin’s international logistics efforts and is a vivid demonstration of the company’s accelerated globalization strategy.

The vessel, originally built by Japan's Sanyo Shipyard, is a bulk carrier with a gross tonnage of 2,646 tons and a deadweight of 3,800 tons, capable of carrying up to 3,500 tons of cargo. After being acquired by Huaxin, the ship underwent a complete refurbishment of its hull and shell, along with deep maintenance of key systems including the main and auxiliary engines, cranes, and hatch covers, ensuring it is in excellent condition.

This maiden voyage carries approximately 2,352 cubic meters of cargo, including Huaxin’s production equipment and spare parts, powder tank semi-trailers, packaging machines, plate rolling machines, conveyors, rotary valves, construction steel, and foam boards. These will be used for the upgrading and renovation of the Mozambique plant.

Huaxin has named the vessel “NOVA FORTUNA”, symbolizing the start of a new journey in Africa and the promise of good fortune. The ship will primarily serve trade routes transporting cement from Huaxin’s Mozambique plant to island nations in East Africa, including Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, and Réunion.

Preliminary research indicated a lack of stable routes and suitable vessels for this region. Based on assessments of port depths and operational conditions in relevant countries, Huaxin strategically acquired this ship to help expand the market reach of its Mozambique operations. The company plans to further invest in ships, trains, and trucks, offering diversified and high-quality logistics services to tap deeper into the African market.

At the launch ceremony, Huaxin Vice President Tang Jun delivered a speech, stating that overseas development is a key strategic priority for the company. Currently, Huaxin operates in 18 countries, with over 40 building materials plants constructed and operated across 13 countries, all achieving strong economic and social returns.

As overseas operations flourish, Huaxin will continue to accelerate the development of its international trade and logistics system. The company is building a fully digitalized platform that integrates maritime shipping, warehousing, and distribution. By linking resources across “factories + ports + transportation,” Huaxin aims to enable rapid response in global supply chains, significantly boost traditional logistics efficiency, reduce international trade costs, and expand into broader overseas markets—moving steadily toward becoming a world-leading multinational building materials group.
