Maweni Limestone Limited (MLL) is Huaxin's first operation in Africa. It used to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of a Kenyan company in Tanzania, built with a clinker production line with an annual capacity of 1 million tons. In May 2020, Huaxin completed the 100% equity acquisition of MLL and the plant was officially handed over to Huaxin team. Afterwards, Huaxin has made significant investments to revamp and upgrade the old manufacturing system and also install waste heat recovery system to generate power. In October 2021, Huaxin cement products were officially launched into the market as the cement capacity has increased by 50% after the revamp. In July 2022, phase II project was officially commenced which was planned to build another 1.5 million ton facility. Furthermore, an idle grinding station in Dar res Sallam resumed operation in June 2023 after retrofitting in order to better serve customers in the largest single market. MLL will take this opportunity to drive the development of local industrialisation and fulfil its social responsibilities actively.
